This is the style of argument that selects a bundle of facts to support the right-wing belief that “California is out of control”. I stopped at the first citation of Joel Kotkin.https://twitter.com/kimmaicutler/status/1002904767771873280 …

But the prison stuff and the zoning stuff? His comments on zoning don’t square with Kotkin, who seems to think sprawl is fine.

His facts are correct, and of course Californians face very important problems. But he assembles his pile of unrelated facts in order to point his finger at “progressives”. He is painting an enemy for his tribe.

Being a reactionary, he merely lists problems. Being a progressive, I see challenges and opportunities. I also see the conditions for the problems (e.g. sprawl,
#Prop13) instead of painting villains and enemies.1 reply 1 retweet 7 likes -

Yes he does and good for him. Next step is for him to persuade enough of the 40 million in Alta California to win the governorship. I am not persuaded.

What is Newsom’s position on housing? (I know I should be better informed - I am more focused right now on local peninsula politics and flipping Congressional races)
