We had the Roundhouse booked for two nights for the Q Awards next week. We didn’t have talent sorted when we had to Covid cancel in April, but Nadine Shah was presenting and the two gigs were Liam Gallagher one night, Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbott the other.

Here in New England you can tell when fall is here when the newspaper starts to change colors. I love how the marks the seasons by changing the art on its nameplate.

Coming up: the most extraordinary thread I’ve ever written. On how we blew over £150m and Andrew Mills (a Government adviser) seems to have made a fortune. But let’s start with introductions. THREAD /1

Depressed by how many people are oblivious to the imminent threat to newspapers & magazines, or (sadder still) think the UK would be better off without the media. For all its shortcomings, the British press is one of the freest & fairest in the world, & essential to democracy.

This is a very sad day for British music culture and for journalism. On a personal note, if it wasn’t for Gareth Grundy’s editing of my early pieces for the magazine, I would never have had a career writing about music. Thank Q, it will be missed...

The eds were some of the first people in the industry to be kind and supportive, from work exp days as a shy 18yrold to gal-dem 2018 takeover. It was the first pub I ever read religiously growing up and a dream come true to eventually be able to write for them.

Such sad news about the print edition of - it's a magazine that's been part of my life since 1995, and I've been honoured to work with the team since 2015. Duncan, Sean and the team have done an amazing job - they leave the title in incredible form.
