Except Netflix's regular plan is only going up $1, and that's because it's costing them more to put out so many big budget projects. They built different from Hulu

It wasn't ONLY about saving money, it was about a la carte choice. The ability to watch whatever you wanted whenever you wanted. Unlike cable where what you view is dictated.

Cable companies have on demand services, so this argument is no longer feasible. Also, netflix is testing a live tv feature and I believe hulu has one too. They are regressing.

I've been saying this all along, not to you because I don't know you, but we used to pay 1 bill for our tv, now we will page 4+ totaling the same cost we used to pay for that 1 bill. Except, we aren't only paying them for the service, but giving them our data.
