why are tv shows so dark? because showrunners all want the glory of CinEmA -- even though we're watching in living rooms, not theaters.

So the options are "make the black level show up grey on LCDs" or "buy a new TV"?...
Fuck it, I'll just play video games instead. They at least know how to respect dynamic range -- some even let players adjust it in real time.
