    Not in the Constitution. Not even a law, just a rule. And didn’t exist for the first decade or two of the Senate. The US House used to have it, too, but they got rid of it around the 1840s.

    The law says the chair of the Ways & Means Committee can get them directly from the IRS (through the Secretary of the Treasury). Nothing in the law says that the person whose taxes are being requested has a role in turning them over. What is it you think I am getting wrong?

    Wrong. Scroll down to Section F. Don’t mistake the polite language of “request” as something that’s optional to comply with. The operative language here is “shall.” There’s no wiggle room or “executive privilege” (wrong usage of exec privilege anyway).

    Maybe you missed the section? Seems clear to me. Maybe google some articles talking about IRS 6103(f) so they can break it down for you? It’s been invoked for Presidents and VPs three other times in my lifetime.

    That said, it does appear that Ben has used the shooter’s name when the shooters were Muslim. I hope his change of heart after Parkland remains consistently applied and isn’t situational.

    Oh for fuck’s sake. No one was jailed. Not one person. Whether or not the DAs office should have ever been brought into it is a separate matter. I don’t hunk they should have. But let’s not lie about the actual outcomes.

    Six year ago today I posted this illustration of ⁦⁩ as a superhero. My friend Zach Enea drew it when she was DA of SF for an award ⁦⁩ gave her for her leadership countering transpanic defense claims. She’s still a hero.
