We're looking into adopting a Senior Pet (dog), and I'm wondering if any of you have experience with this. If we decide to adopt, I want to make it feel as welcome as possible.

It is a lot of work and it's a gamble to get a senior dog, but so worth it - I've had one that was badly abused and had aggression issues the rest of his life, and I currently have a 16 year old who is a perfect angel. Be prepared for that. 1/

Make your new senior comfortable, give them a safe space to hide away if needed, whether that be a cage or a cave-bed. Have lots of blankets, toys, and treats ready for them, along with some tasty food. Be careful with picking them up, since some seniors can have 3/
