I finally beat Outlast 2. This is my review: 1. Outlast 2 gives you literally no time to relax 2. I felt like I had an adrenaline shot the entire game 3. There were too many cgi-vaginas in my face A solid 7/10. It was dece.pic.twitter.com/oJk6wFMiBD
I think its biggest problem was the pacing. I didn’t mind the plot and I appreciate the thought that was put into crafting their weird, messed up religion, but I felt like most of the time they were trying too hard.

I think there's no "trying too hard". I do believe that there's such a thing as stories being just "things happening". The lack of payoff for an already erratic buildup, along the apparently endemic problem of death in horror games ruining the joy, + spiced with trial & error...

I like how we aren't even talking about if it's spooky or not, hehe. It did work when it actually was subtle and not full face-fuck mode. Moments like that were few and spread out, but they were there. The camera tricks and the awesome transitions out of the school bits, for one.
