    President Trump personally asked Georgia's governor "to call a special session of the state legislature to get lawmakers to override the results and appoint electors that would back him." This is an extraordinary thing for a U.S. president to even attempt.

    Pressuring Kemp is “the latest example of Trump’s extraordinary personal effort to overturn Biden’s win [and] comes as his legal team has met with resounding failure... On Friday, the president and his allies suffered legal defeats in six states.”

    A remarkable letter, notably signed by a distinct minority of the state's upper chamber. But have a significant number of state leaders ever before urged Congress not to count its electoral votes?

    Pennsylvania Republican lawmakers, including House Speaker Bryan Cutler and House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff, have sent a letter to the state’s congressional delegation urging them to object to PA’s Electoral College votes on Jan. 6.

    These are two separate things (as I discuss in some length in a new manuscript on impeachment power). Abuse of power is not the exercise of a power an officer doesn’t possess. It is a misuse of a power an officer does lawfully possess.

    The Constitution expressly grants the President pardon power. Anyone calling President Trump’s pardon of Michael Flynn an “abuse of power” is mistaken.

    Last night, SCOTUS issued injunctive relief to houses of worship challenging NYC’s COVID-19 restrictions, the first time it has granted such relief during the pandemic. I have mixed views about the decision and early reactions to it.
