    Back in the 90's there was this calendar software that had the most calming and beautiful animated landscapes. Thanksfully someone made it work again with html 5. Mark Ferrari (original artist) is a genius. Make sure to open options and change time of day

    I hadn't considered this factor: SaaS cloud providers of tools like Redis and Elasticsearch are eroding the support business for those companies

    Most support was driven by operational problems. Not only support is not a scalable business, but the cloud providers with SaaS are also eroding the support business.

    this is a decent argument for working people much LESS than 40 hrs a week. Or at least not expecting them to be adding source constantly. We think of developers as implementation slaves rather than inventors all too often and this is something very wrong about corporate software

    Pretty mind-blowing paper, 3D-printed representations of neural networks you can run inference on by shining light through... literal *light speed* inference times. They only have classification networks so far, but I'd love to see pix2pix or a GAN soon.

    Update: The child died following her stay at an ICE Detention Center, as a result of possible negligent care and a respiratory illness she contracted from one of the other children. The events took place in Dilley Family Detention Center in south Texas.
