Back in the 90's there was this calendar software that had the most calming and beautiful animated landscapes. Thanksfully someone made it work again with html 5. Mark Ferrari (original artist) is a genius. Make sure to open options and change time of day

I hadn't considered this factor: SaaS cloud providers of tools like Redis and Elasticsearch are eroding the support business for those companies

Working 120 hours weeks doesn't make you more productive. It just makes you a hot mess.

this is a decent argument for working people much LESS than 40 hrs a week. Or at least not expecting them to be adding source constantly. We think of developers as implementation slaves rather than inventors all too often and this is something very wrong about corporate software

i cant tell if ive lost the ability to ever be excited about anything again and that ive broken through my ambitions and come to the realization that everything ive ever strived for is a false idol that will never take the place of true and actual happiness, or if its hot outside

Pretty mind-blowing paper, 3D-printed representations of neural networks you can run inference on by shining light through... literal *light speed* inference times. They only have classification networks so far, but I'd love to see pix2pix or a GAN soon.

“Must have 12+ years of management experience including managing managers.” “Nice to have: familiarity with Linux, Windows, and/or OS X kernel programming.” This job posting is the very definition of looking for a unicorn.

Took a week of PTO and didn’t touch a computer or read a technical book. I needed the break more than I thought.
