Question: What happens if Mr. Singh fails to prevail in expected February by-election?
-
-
-
Then. BC Goes to the Polls!
-
Singh is running in a federal by-election, nothing to do with BC legislature balance.
#bcpoli -
yes, but it goes to Diane's prediction that the NDP will be looking for a new leader :)
-
Actually, I didn't predict that. But it certainly presents a problem if NDP had to campaign with a leader who failed to secure a seat in the House after a considerable number of opportunities - and I know many/most were not ideal.
-
sorry... *Kevin's* prediction
-
I understood Kevin's statement to mean Singh was running in a provincial by-election. However, Dianes point about provincial members campaigning for a federal leader who could quite likely lose, would not look good for a pretty fagile BC NDP government. Interesting!
-
1) I wasn't. 2) Leonard Krog resigned his Provincial Seat. If it goes Liberal, it tips the scales. 3)That being said, I don't think Singh will win Burnaby.

no prediction on the govt in the AB election? :)
-
I keep flipping. I can see both NDP and UCP winning. It might depend on timing.

Let's make 2019 the year that Jason Kenney retires from politics to enjoy his multi-million dollar golden parachute of a pension.

I agree with all except for the Alberta prediction I don’t the NDP stand a chance
-
We'll see. Rachel Notley is a skilled politician. She dispatched the late Jim Prentice who was a far more likeable man. Jason Kenney has difficulties on the latter front, not helped by recent news.
-
I hope so but I can’t help but look at how she won last time - by the two right parties splitting the vote. It’s the problem we have had on the left federally since the PC party was killed off. What other party is there that will cause a minority?
-
If AB voters have any sense they will concentrate their affections on one party ;-).

1/ I tend to agree with your predictions. It will be interesting to see how the
@AlbertaParty approaches holding the balance of power. I’ve been told by one of the most prominent@AlbertaParty that they have zero interest in propping up an@Alberta_UCP government.... -
2/ It seems pretty clear that the
@AlbertaParty hatred of@Alberta_UCP social policies is stronger than their (significant) concerns about the degree of competence shown by many individual@albertaNDP ministers. I find this heartening.
