It's simple. This shows that olds are using facebook for news. Olds trend toward conservatism. Plus FB is now in the laggard adoption phase. So any young, or technology focused folks have moved on.

i think it's tough to make that inference off two months of data. fox, daily wire, and right-wing tabloid western journal also highly ranked in jan and feb.pic.twitter.com/5pQ6zk5Wuy

I wonder how engagements are distributed within a single website. Does engagement vary because of Facebook's algorithm? Or is it the result of a select few articles being much more popular than others?
-
Yes and yes. If an article is popular on an asset it will appear on my users for that asset, but that doesn't mean itll get more shares. Example: if your page reaches 10k on a post, and 500 people comment, it may then reach 30k more people, but if they don't share it (1/2)
-
it will only be seen by people on their page. what content creators want is for you to share it to your personal timeline and get engagement there too, so they get actual clicks. So comments/likes are good, but comments/likes/shares better. its not about SITE, its about FB ASSET
-
What facebook claims to be doing is killing clickbait sites like ladbible. clearly it isnt working, but it may be working for political blog clickbait, im not sure tbh

Data algorithms like this used for media selection are literally dumb. They are not able to judge quality over quantity. Just because a web site or video shows up at the top in a Google search doesn’t mean it’s the best at what it does. Often times, it’s perpetuating dreck.

Frankly it’s because so many thinking people abandoned FB for news

Please direct me to a "news" program. Yelling analysis arguments isn't news, especially when they are paid to analyze and hired and fired based off of focus group ratings.pic.twitter.com/PkJMZanXpE

Serious Q: Are there signs of the demographics of FB users shifting as well? In my social media circles, I see millennials/progressives rejecting/deleting Facebook in droves.
-
2.2 billion people have Facebook accounts (of the 7.6 billion people in the world). So, almost 1/3 of the world is still on Facebook. Only 800 million people are on Instagram. And following a distant 3rd is Twitter with 328 million users.
-
Accounts isn’t the same as active users.
-
Haven’t used my account in years. Had it set at most private anyway and don’t even want to sign in to delete it at this point. I know others in the same boat. I suppose we should delete, just to show ppl leaving. Still, doubt I’m gonna sign in today to do it...
-
I wonder how many of Facebook's 2.2 billion accounts are inactive. Does anyone know the active users amount for Facebook?
