Taylor O'Neill and I cowrote this piece for HPR to honor Fr. Matthew Lamb, a Trappist monk and our professor who died a week ago today. His influence in Catholic theology in America needs to be made known. Please share.

Thank you for that. It sounds so characteristic of Fr. Lamb. And what a victory for a theologian, to have one's name so linked with wisdom. An example for us all. R.I.P.

Some reasons for the decline: 1. Lousy catechesis 2. Influence of liberation theology and other ideological readings of Christianity 3. Clerical bewilderment in the face of secularization 4. Sex abuse scandals 5. Not enough God and way too much social justice 6. Clericalism

A fitting tribute from Michael Dauphinais, the director of our graduate program. May Fr. Lamb “now see what we only believe.”

Wisdom from Fr. Lamb, from an essay which happily put Ave Maria University on the map for me: "We need a cathedral of the mind in which each and every person's restless mind and heart feels at home..."

Please pray for the peaceful repose of Fr. Matthew Lamb, the Cardinal Maida Professor of Theology , and a leading light for faithful Catholic thought. Eternal rest, Lord, grant unto your servant.

Our beloved Fr. Matthew Lamb went home to the Lord in the early hours of this morning. Faculty and graduate students were at his bedside around the clock for his last days. His passing was graceful and peaceful. Requiem aeternam dona ei, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei. RIP.

No need for anyone to watch tonight – just another SEC matchup. The champions have already been crowned by a higher authority than the NCAA selection committee.
