People who haven't applied for a visa misunderstand the process. Until we started my wife's naturalization process, I had no idea it was so expensive, so exhaustive, or that you would have to do biometrics a ton of times.

It appears the root of the problem was the bureaucrats in charge of the process thought you all were trying to get a high limit credit card

Seems like selection bias? Not to say the visa system is efficient or effective but on the flip side, plenty of people that got in are successful and those that did not, were ‘not’.
