Isn’t it interesting that when “criminals” are treated like the human beings they are, authentic human relationships develop.

I am not surprised the death row inmates responded that way. Heartbreaking at the same time.

It resonates with me. We've had clients who call when they hear that we're sick or tell us to cancel a visit because it's snowing and they worry the roads aren't safe.

That breaks my heart.

Sincerely. I realize that may have sounded sarcastic. It was not!

Humanity. It's everywhere. Even the places you're not looking.

That makes total sense. These are the people that advocate the most for them, and see them as humans not just criminals. What a beautiful response full of love and empathy.

I’m a teacher for men who are incarcerated and I swear my students know more about me than I know about myself. They can tell when I’m having a bad day, my feelings are hurt, or I’m starting to get sick. We advocate for them and they care deeply for us. It’s beautiful.

My dads a lawyer in NYC, has COPD and is over 65, he told his assistant (forgot her title) that he's not going to prisons anymore and will send someone in his place. Super worried about people in the jails though.

this!! my husband works for our public defenders office and is in and out of our (crumbling&terrible) jail almost every day. he’s been exposed to so much in the last year and the folks in county don’t have near the hygiene resources they regularly need.
