Jen Holland talked about a tool for teachers to create immersive educational experiences, but didn't give many specific details #io17

With Daydream 2.0, you'll be able to take screenshots in VR (presumably full 360).

I did a hands-on with
@googlevr's standalone headset. The 6DoF tracking is super solid. Here's@RtoVR's deep-dive:http://www.roadtovr.com/hands-googles-standalone-daydream-headset-prototype-worldsence-tracking/ … -
Google said they're planning on using a 3DoF controller w their 6DoF standalone headset.
Seems like a bad idea, but I haven't seen it yet -
Unless
@GoogleVR's depth sensing tech can track hands or have great IK, then 3DoF controllers will kill the sense of embodied presence. -
I've not been a fan of any of the 3DoF Daydream games. The best one is
@TenderClaws' VVR and that's more of a narrative-driven experience -
Google VR devs aren't really Daydream gamers, so they're not eating their own dogfood. Adding 6DoF + 3DoF MAY fracture game design ecosystem
-
I'm prepared to be wrong but I'm not sure VR gaming is what is driving Daydream use. More likely YouTube, WebVR, & learning like Expeditions
-
The 3DoF Daydream pointer makes an EXCELLENT volumetric mouse pointer, but it's a TERRIBLE extension of my arm & breaks presence in games
-
That all said, this is all theory. I need to see the final 6DoF + 3DoF tech integration in practice before I make a final judgement.

Have they stated the positional precision of this and common error range?
-
I haven't seen anyone give that level of specific quantified performance. I was doing an interview during the 3:30 tango session & missed it

looks like it has pretty long range. Is it still structured light?
