1 thing I learned friends is it's not about "the person", but the movement that "person" is involved with. If a "good progressive" Representative/Senator is doing great for their city/state/district, the people will know what they want for the next person to carry the torch.

Even if I was elected as a badass Green Congressman, I wouldn't want to stay in forever - passing the torch to even greater possibilities to someone like minded will 99.9% happen. And this is just 1 step in electoral reform, there are many more we need.

Ranked choice voting, proportional representation, public campaign financing, big money out of politics, automatic voter registration, 1 month voting periods (not just 1 day), voting holidays, paper ballots (hand counted too), etc.

In addition, term limits will also help as it is way more difficult to take out an establishment incumbent than someone new (even if that person carries the same ideologies as the incumbent). Incumbents in Congress have a close to 95% re-election rate.

imagine a speaker with only 2 terms of experience. im in favor of term limits but I think they need to be a little more broad than this. the real problem is the money in politics, not so much the amount of time one is involved in politics

some state legislatures have term limits that are quite narrow, this leads to a constant rotation of wealthy candidates serving in every elected seat in the area. county positions, local positions, both houses of the legislature.

I agree money in politics is the biggest issue - but taking out an incumbent or sitting legislator is much more difficult than someone new (even if they have the same ideologies as the incumbent). In addition to big money out, ranked choice voting, proportional representation, ++

Imma disagree. We have term limits. They are called elections. Other types of electoral reform should be considered, including ranked-choice voting.

I don’t agree with term limits because it’s mainly money in politics that determines who gets elected. If we have fair, publicly funded elections people should be able to vote for who they want as many times as they want.

He came up with this now that Democrats are in the House? Pun intended. Convenient timing. I agree however instead of 2 six year term make it 2 three year term for everyone

Hey Kenneth, can I recommend you to give Lawrence Lessig's podcast 'Another Way' a listen? Start with season 2, and consider a constitutional convention to get money out of politics
