That if you commit a felony you broke a societal contract and lose certain rights that influence the society that felon harmed.

In your mind, prisoners retaining their right to vote would result in them legalizing murder? Out of curiosity, who would be responsible for getting that on the ballots?

Part of it is because of the extremely cool and very fair policy where we ship inmates out of their home communities to somewhere else and then count them as being residents there. If we let them vote, they'd be voting in those communities. Who is the worst person you can think of? Any program that benefits everyone will also benefit that person, so it is a bad program.
