What do folks use for offline dev documentation? I've been using Zeal () but would love to see an option that's not a native app. Seems like a good fit for a Web Bundle project :)

CyberAgent's a11y guidelines in a web bundle [1] and now Dave's ebook & audiobook in web bundles. Tis the season to be web bundling! [1]

I’ve create a couple of sample web bundles. One is an ebook for Moby-Dick (with no JS); the other is an audiobook of “Flatland.” Hacky but fun. Chrome 79+ with flags needed.

AFAICT, it looks like this unwanted software did a bunch of changes that led to giving [odd] origin the ability to show notifications, bypassing the usual permission prompt (user has no recollection of seeing one). I'll share more details internally 6/6

From chrome history on the machine impacted. 11:28 the user got tricked by a "your computer is infected, install this antivirus now!!" scare tactic. Unclear if a web ad, a system notification?!, or a look-alike system notification. 2/6

I looked into the instance I'm aware of. Here is what I found. Situation when the notification spam started: - [some cleaner soft] recently installed (few days ago) - Notification enabled in Chrome for [odd] origin (*but not present in history*) What I think happened 1/6

There could even be a benchmark that highlight the speed of default DNS lookups if that becomes a differentiating factor. 4/4

But I didn't find any links supporting these claims. Did I miss a news cycle? Also, if this results in a slower experience, wouldn't users or browser vendors notice and take action? We've been competing on speed for ages, with regular press coverage on various benchmarks 3/

I'm in India to deliver the talk I gave with at CDS. Doing it alone is a whole different challenge: all the duo dynamics built into the deck had to be changed, and apparently I got 40min instead of the 30min I had planned for. I'll speak slowly 😅 and drop some extra info
