As I pointed out yesterday (and in 2008), if you want defeat a sabermetrician in an argument, you can’t argue about how to win. You have to argue about why we watch.https://twitter.com/DSzymborski/status/1321500948397740033 …

There's no way to say this in a non-dickish manner, so: The least modern front offices (Rockies, Royals) would have been on the cutting-edge in 1995. Modern baseball won. The war is over and has been for a really long time.

There’s no doubt given the current rules, modern sabermetric choices improve your odds of winning. That’s a different question to whether they improve your odds of entertaining.

The game has become a game of three true outcomes. I don’t find that nearly as entertaining as a game where the ball is in play a lot and athletes are running around doing athletic things.

so, the Phillies Bullpen Model would be best for baseball.

Sabermetricians have pointed out what strategies are worth more with the rules the game is played under. They should turn it around and figure out what rule changes could be made to make the more entertaining version of baseball the most effective one.

The electronic strike zone should help. Batters will know what to expect when the game starts, as will the pitchers. There should be fewer called third strikes, thus more balls in play.

Bigger parks and banning the shift would be a start but I have some other zanier ideas too.
