OpenTracing and OpenCensus are merging! It is going to take the best parts of both projects and will support more than tracing. Name is to be determined right now but I was pushing for a Greek name for a while. Ask us anything.

What I’m already seeing as a result of this is a new generation of developers who _only_ know this world. That’s sad. Their idea of an open source conference is the next large vendor event. Please don’t let the original open source hacker culture die by cloud marketing death.
