    A witch, probably.‏ @kellybarnhill Apr 25

So, I know that there are some of you who are new to the Incel phenomenon (though really, after Elliot Rodger's killing spree in 2014, this should have been on everyone's radar, and everyone should be alarmed), but this poison is real, and people are drinking it by the gallon.

Please take a moment to read this article by the Southern Poverty Law Center (@splcenter):https://www.splcenter.org/hatewatch/2018/04/24/i-laugh-death-normies-how-incels-are-celebrating-toronto-mass-killing …

Per the article: "That moment when this random dude killed more people than the supreme gentleman Elliot,” said user Crustaciouse on http://incels.me , where many flocked after the Reddit ban. “I hope this guy wrote a manifesto because he could be our next new saint."

This is a movement borne out of the basest aspects of misogyny and patriarchy - the assertion that women are nothing more than vessels for sex and babies, and that the Incel's access to sex (consent does not exist in this world) is their fundamental right.

According to this ideology, women who deny them forfeit their right to their own humanity, their own autonomy and even their own lives.

Anyway I encourage all of you to follow @DavidFutrelle and to read his blog, http://www.wehuntedthemammoth.com/ . He has been doing the lord's work going into those dank, awful places online where this poison spreads and bringing it into the light. Most of us wouldn't have the stomach for it

How the hell do you reach these guys? How do you keep guys you care about away from that? Do they not have sisters or moms or aunts?!

My daughter attends school at a tech school, and sees some pretty baldfaced and baffling sexism on a day to day basis in her STEM classes - and sees this icky stuff as well. It's a small percentage of men . . . but it's still a lot of people.

We’ve done a pretty good job convincing girls they belong in STEM. Now we need to convince the boys that girls and women belong there, too.

Totally. My kid has a thick skin and knows she's ten times smarter than most people in the room, and also still has a bone to pick with the Harry Potter books because Hermione should have been the hero. But there are a lot of boys with LOTS to learn.
