PMC’s are a cancer that need to be eradicated. Either a nation has the courage to commit its own military resources to a problem, or the problem isn’t worthy of military-like response. Mercenaries are not a solution to anything but a corporation’s bottom line.

I'm pretty sure Erik Prince is finished here but this David Isenberg piece is a great reminder that he's been selling his mercenary services to China and via second/third party players in Libya.

Neera Tanden thinks the way to reduce our deficit is to steal oil from countries like Libya to pay us back for bombing them, toppling their government, and turning them into a failed state. Is this really the person you want in charge of managing our budget?

Worth noting here that like Gina Haspel she will be confirmed because save one or two stalwart senators no one cares about drones and torture, it's never enough.

Excellent write up about Avril Haines from in : she's billed as someone who speaks “truth to power” but decided let those who hacked the computers of Senate staffers investigating CIA torture off the hook. MORE:

As Stephen F. Cohen convincingly argued, Russiagate was advanced by a coalition of Democrats and neocons to criminalize diplomacy with Russia. Now that the Frankenstein monster they created is stalking them too, they reflexively blame “Russian propaganda” 😂

I do believe Petraeus is a conflicted witness; his legacy is tied to Afghanistan, and the current fiasco is directly attributable to his tenure in that country. Sometimes “Saigon April 1975” is the only solution to problems we are incapable of resolving ourselves.
