America doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s flip the senate blue and change these laws.

What kind of "freedom" are you talking about?

-
The kind where you can choose between McDonald’s and Burger King.
-
The freedom to get shot everywhere?
-
And then bankrupt by your medical expenses

Here are the rates of mental health disorders in these same countries before people start trying to blame mental health.pic.twitter.com/I5Hinaal3T
-
‘Mental health disorders’ is a very broad and poorly understood category. I think this type of discussion unfairly stigmatises conditions which have no logical link to what people really mean -psychosis. For instance, these stats include eating disorders.
-
These people do not have mental health issues...they have hate issues. They are being taught to hate and to take out their anger on those they have been taught to hate. Something needs to be done. This country is falling apart.
-
Yes this. I have depression and anxiety and I don't go around shooting people. None of my friends with mental health issues shoot people either. A mass shooter may have mental health issues but it is not the sole cause of their decision to harm others.
-
I mean, I think it's probably both. Plenty of people with mental health issues don't hurt a soul. There are also racist bigots who, despite doing some pretty awful things, never think to pick up a gun and start slaughtering people in public.
-
Also, it's worth noting that there are a wide range of mental health issues. They are not all equally linked to a propensity for or against violence.
-
Statistics show people with mental health disorders are far more likely to be the victims of violence than the perpetrators. Using mental illness to explain away problems caused by an overabundance of assault rifles and lax laws just increases stigma.
-
Thank you for reminding us of this critical fact! I brought a receipt to back up an ally.https://news.ncsu.edu/2014/02/wms-desmarais-violence2014/ …
