@a13xp0p0v gave a great presentation on porting and upstreaming the STACKLEAK plugin, along with the many challenges faced. Thank you for being persistent! https://lssna18.sched.com/event/FLYJ/stackleak-a-long-way-to-the-linux-kernel-mainline-alexander-popov-positive-technologies?iframe=no …pic.twitter.com/rVUmRRTsZ2

You shouldn't be working on the linux kernel in the first place if you are still mad that he didn't take your first version after showing so many fixes in the subsequent. Also, by saying "hated by Linus" you acknowledge that you don't comprehend the reasons behind his decisions.

The issue is mainly not the technical objections, but rather the waste of time spent extracting the critique from personal attacks. @garybernhardt wrote about this: https://www.destroyallsoftware.com/blog/2018/a-case-study-in-not-being-a-jerk-in-open-source …

Sorry but that rewrite does not improve on the original. It lacks the emphasis that Linus put in the original for a reason. If you have a psychological issue reading words like "bullshit" when used for emphasis, that is something you need to work on before working on the kernel.

There is a difference between directing strong language at code and at people. I'm hardly thin skinned, but the pattern of behavior by some kernel maintainers that use personal attack as an "intensifier" creates a hostile environment that has driven out many good developers.

your example(s) haven't exactly shown the "driven out many good developers" thing, it has shown that he calls bad code what it is. i don't care about good people working on my kernel, i care about good code being put in.
