This park is huge, with lots of empty grassy areas to lounge and plenty of paths for running. People around the rest of the park are MOSTLY observing social distancing. The track has locking gates!! But they're open! Why????
Listen, I don't want police involvement, or anyone being arrested or fined, but you can take simple steps to make the track inhospitable. Park a couple city vehicles on the field. Lock the gates. Wrap the outdoor fitness equipment in police tape.
BTW there is a housing project like a half mile from this track. I haven't been past in a while, but how much do you want to bet the city authorities are doing a better job of keeping *those* New Yorkers from congregating outdoors?
So I know my profile pic is whiter than mayo, and somebody already got the wrong idea, so to be perfectly clear I put "those" in asterisks to emphasize that the cops and city treat poor people of color like shit, not because I have a bad opinion of people in the projects.
How about I just realized the original tweet says "teach" instead of "track," cool so I'm a narc AND illiterate.
