A lot of this is bang on for me. Lots of flight sims, Goldeneye and Timesplitters as a kid. But I never invert my mouse on the odd occasion I do play with one.

I literally cannot play standard. I’ll think I’ve have cracked it when trying this way, but then quick reflexes will be needed and I’ll forget again in the moment.

Habitual is definitely the case for me - the first 3d games I played that had vertical camera motion were flight sims, so I guess that was locked into my brain from an early age
