This is terrifying.
But how is that the map services fault?
Recommender subroutine's fault for not having working exceptions process. More common reasons for that pattern include road work closures, police redirections and ice. If a road is blank when others around it are busy, algorithms should never recommend it as the cause never good.
That is lethal, and shows why it is necessary to treat phones as just one more tool, and apply them only within reason.
Maps doesn't know when our busiest sections of highway are closed for scheduled construction.
Waze does. Great app
To be fair common sense in a situation like that should go over "what my phone said"
Google maps often don't even update streets that are now one-way, it's terrible. Waze is SO much better, info NOW on traffic, construction, crashes, police etc. Does anyone have any info on how Waze performed in the fires?
