      Because space is not a sea? Many similarities but underlying premise of freedom of the seas was that seas cannot be occupied. Not true for moon, asteroids, Mars.

      I think you're doing a good job illustrating why the "freedom of the seas" paradigm doesn't work as well when there is territory that can be occupied.
