But Elon is promising to send colonists to Mars in his BFR in the 2020s. What's the value in a p-p-p cargo ship for NASA a decade later?

I didn't read his presentation as a promise to send colonists, just as a possible path. Took Hughes 8-10 years as a complementary time frame
