@tcn33 It’s not a planet unless Ceres, Haumea, Makemake, Eris, 2207OR10, Quaoar, Sedna, Orcus, 2002MS4 & Salacia are, too. +prob many more.

@kchangnyt There was definitely some public attachment to Pluto. All the more reason not to confuse & upset people w unnecessary "demotion".
@DrFunkySpoon The 8 planets is by far least confusing option. Ask people to name the 5 dwarf planets or the 6 "almost certainly" dwarfs.

@kchangnyt I mean kids & others were (rightfully) confused about why Pluto was suddenly no longer a planet. (I was a museum curator at time) -
