Maybe it's because I don't have that many launches to compare this one to—I've been on the space beat for 3 years—but Boeing's response didn't seem frustrating to me. Then again, I used to cover politics, so..https://twitter.com/brianweeden/status/1208056702056194048 …

For as much as the @SpaceX marketing & hype machine annoys me, their openness and transparency during actual missions is a refreshing alternative to what we saw today from @BoeingSpace

it wasn't necessarily just the response but the whole package. no live streaming data (let alone metric units!), hardly any actual real data at all, just nonsense words like "stable orbit". and long delays to get the PR right.

fair. The tricky thing is we can't know how SpaceX might have reacted to a similar malfunction. Would they have cut the webcast too? (which was a shock to me!)

On the CRS-2 mission, there was a problem with Dragon’s thrusters immediately after reaching orbit. SpaceX ended their launch webcast at that point, but Musk tweeted some updates, as I recall.

Early SpaceX was much more secretive, considerably more open now. Maybe the Crew Dragon static fire kablooey is a good comparison. It took a while for useful information to come out.

Ken, I'm going to refer to it as the "kablooey" from now on. Thank you for this.
