It works great if you don't mind killing off bird species and birth defects.
If you spray millions of tons, as was done with DDT, yes, DFDT is likely to accumulate in the environment and cause major damage. Targeted use against malaria would not be nearly as dangerous. The universe is full of grays, even with insecticides.
