      I’m trying to think of an instance where a spacecraft dropped out of contact during landing and did not crash. I can’t think of any.

      Beagle 2? Landed successfully on Mars but couldn’t deploy its solar panels (so it never communicated back).

          True, probably not, as other probes landing on Mars. I was thinking of an example of a successful landing that never got confirmation because of comms problems.
