It’s literally 5th grade math. Not that hard and not worth this much print.
You may say it’s stupid and pointless but it’s on standardized tests, which are tied to teacher evaluations, which is why it is taught. Non educators making the rules, talk about stupid and pointless!
I could be wrong since I haven't taken standardized tests for a long time, but I'd bet that they're not teaching or testing this gotcha version of PEMDAS.

Standardized tests, at least in MI, is big on “gotcha.” We are forever asking why the need to “trick” a 10 or 11 year old. This one is actually pretty straight forward order of op...you should see the “tricky” stuff!! 1/2

Not only that, they test 5th graders at the end of the 3rd quarter on the full year of math standards! So tchrs are evaluated on material (25%) that hasn’t been taught. Not to mention kids are frustrated with concepts/problems they haven’t learned. Gotcha...
