My point: / is NOT equivalent to —, according to your interpretation. The latter adds implied parentheses. (An unstated rule!) Others are saying the implied multiplication adds implied parentheses. Some think ÷ is equivalent to — instead of /. It’s all arbitrary & uninteresting.
