      Neither is NASA -- despite the fact that a return to the moon has been a wish by many. But when the agency pursues large missions, pessimistic reporting like this just panders to those who think NASA is a waste of government funding and hinders support of the science we do.

      The article is a pretty straightforward assessment about whether NASA astronauts will be walking at the south pole of the moon in 2024.

      It also takes a negative tone by stating that it's unlikely to happen. My point is that the article plays to the idea that NASA is a waste and thus risks losing support of science programs at NASA and even overall. Celebrate science, don't diminish it.

      Not at all. Rather, report the news objectively and simply state the facts..letting readers decide for themselves how likely the entire mission is.

      Objectively, NASA does not appear to have the money or political support for a 2024 moon landing. Plus, big aerospace projects commonly run late and over budget. We’ll let you decide whether success is likely or not.
