Doesn't seem it goes off a cliff. By this time next year, the schedule is reset to 2028, and everyone forgets about everything, just like everyone forgets what NASA said last year about what it wanted to do in 2024. (Ditch ISS.)

maybe. or maybe potus 2021 says i like nasa. i like earth science. i don't like humans in deep space, where robots should be.

A robotic lander/rover to the lunar south pole should have been done 40+ years ago. Results from remote sensing are nice, but ground truth is needed. There could be very interesting science at the LSP, regardless if humans make a base there or not.
