Yes. And then you do the chemistry calculations, and the amount of methane in the Martian air doesn't match the calculations. That's what makes science interesting and how people discover new things.

Methane is 1 carbon and 4 hydrogens, nothing exotic. Basic chemistry isn't going to be different a few million miles away.
