But they fit! So I decided to spend the $10 because I was NOT going to go up a size. And also there weren't many options in that size. Now I'm irritated about my weight, so I decided the best plan was to walk to my hotel, since it was only 3.5 miles away.

In fairness, I've been walking around 3 miles a day, three days a week. Usually, of course, I'm not carrying my laptop and other assorted backpack items, nor am I worn out post-conference. But it was a beautiful day, so why not?

Well of course my hotel was along, what is it, 45? So I knew I would be walking most of the way along the access road, during rush hour. But there was a sidewalk, so I remained optimistic.

A mile from the hotel, however, I found the inspiration for Shel Silverstein's infamous book. That is, I discovered where the sidewalk ended. >.< I'm a mile away. Uber wants $10 and will take 15 minutes. I know that, worst case, it should only take 30 minutes. So I press on.

Of course, the ground is uneven and I'm worried I'll turn my ankle and/or fall into the road. So, muttering the whole time, and occasionally upping the volume (bc I'm alone), I continue. When oncoming traffic isn't in the right lane, I give up and walk in the road.

I finally reach the hotel. I'm exhausted, but celebrating my success. And then I realize...this isn't my hotel. Apparently there are two hotels off the access road with the same name.

I sit in the lobby and cry. Okay, no tears, but I'm just like, why. WHY. I grumble. Then I call Uber and pay $10 to travel six miles to my hotel, because no way am I walking. And that, my friend, is the Great Pants Debacle of LPSC. It has brought my family & friends many laughs.

Wow. You'll keep the pants forever. All I forgot to pack were headphones and a battery. Then I left my laptop charger in the hotel room on Monday so I had to write faster.

:D I will always have a story about them, anyway. I am hoping that they will no longer fit after a few more months of running.... <sips Coke and eats Cadbury egg> Okay they probably will
