At this hearing, Bridenstine says kids needs to see people walking on the moon and Mars to get them excited about space. I disagree. My op-ed for the @nytimes covers it.

Then why do we name public schools after astronauts and not after space probes? People connect much more viscerally - and personally - to seeing humans explore space than they would if only their iPhones went there.

I disagree. Humans are easier to relate to but it also doesn't mean that robotic missions can't incite the same excitement and connection. That is due to communication, PR and how we view them in society. Why don't people name Voyager middle school? Cassini-Huygens HS?
