I am a fan of NYT Science stories, but it always baffles me when “yards” and “miles” are used instead of SI units. It’s the science page, you should consider promoting modern measurement units. Sincerely, a fan.

Thanks for the response. I sympathize, but I don’t agree. NYT Science is supposed to be a leader on science reporting; your style guide should reflect that. The scientific community is in agreement on units, yet you are hamstrung by your bureaucratic overlords.

It seems similar to the climate change “debate” with the NYT style guide in the unenviable position of a denier. Other media outlets such as Ars Technica manage to cover space using SI units. This might be a chance to take a stand and win some followers.
