The County’s rationale for the $210m project was a lie. The project was labeled a “Children and Family Justice Center” on the tax levy, when in reality it is a jail. Funding is now in jeopardy as the WA Court of Appeals found the levy unlawful @kcexec #WheresTheMoneyComingFrom ?
Actually, about 20% of the budget will build the detention portion of the facility, with about 100 fewer beds than the current facility. The rest will build a larger space for programs and the new court.
