The County has taken many steps to reduce incarceration of our young people and will continue to do even more. When the Children and Family Justice Center (CFJC) opens in 2020, it will offer supportive programs that will connect more youth & families to community-based services; one area initially intended to hold 32 beds has been converted to non-detention youth program space.

It would help greatly if the schools ever thought to rethinks its position on resource officers in schools. This is the connection to the school to prison pipeline and they would be instrumental in helping King county with this goal.
