In 2014, the population of King County reached 2M; last year, it was 2.1M. That's 200k more folks than when I took office in '09. #SOTC

Many came by way of the maternity ward (including my daughter!), but migration and immigration play an important part in our story. #SOTC

+40% of new King Co residents since are new Americans. They come here to seek a better life—but we're are all enriched by their presence.

We must acknowledge, too, that, unless you're among the area's native peoples, no one of us has a particularly superior claim to its bounty.

We are all made stronger by welcoming people who strive to make a better life for themselves & their families—but this idea is under attack.

When I took office, I set out to make KC work better for all, emphasizing accountability, empowerment, customer service, & performance.
