In February '20, a slide at 356th Dr. SE in King County was activated following major rainstorms. When I learned about the slide, I immediately issued an Emergency Proclamation. This project is emblematic of the challenges we are facing in King County with respect to infrastructure – we have many roads in the County like this one, and our funding is extremely limited. Thankfully, with some effort, we did receive reimbursement from FEMA for this project.
But this event and subsequent project are reminders that we need to be looking for new and creative ways to fund the County’s roads to ensure that King County remains a vital and prosperous region.
