2/3 Today's derailment only adds urgency to SELA's mission. We must be honest about the impacts of coal & oil terminals on public safety, the region's economy, & the natural environment. I look forward to working with local, state, and tribal leaders to address this issue.
3/3 We here in the Pacific Northwest cannot grow complacent about the danger of these sorts of human-made disasters. Our environment, and people's lives, are precious. And they deserve our attention and care--now.
And this is why communities fight over stuff like this. People need jobs and people want to be safe. I wonder what the water table will be like and were the tracks up to code?
