This new shelter is an example of what future congregate shelters should look like with personal space, storage and wraparound services onsite for residents.
We know that once people have a place of their own where they can secure their belongings, get a full night’s sleep, take a hot shower in the morning, do laundry, and access services, they begin to stabilize and find jobs.
How soon is "future"? Because so far this still hasn't addressed safety concerns regarding Salvation Army from those who have to stay in those shelters, and this is exactly months too late. We need shelter solutions yesterday, not "in the future".
