Our contact tracers have noted a disturbing pattern: Only one in five people is self-isolating when they develop COVID-19 symptoms. Close to 80% continue to circulate in the community. That needs to stop. If you're sick, stay home.https://komonews.com/news/coronavirus/only-1-in-5-isolating-when-covid-symptoms-develop-king-county-says …

Probably some - but individuals who are sick do not need a doctor's note to get paid time off, per the @WADeptHealth. https://www.doh.wa.gov/Coronavirus/Workplace … Additionally, workers in Washington State all have paid time off under the state law passed in 2018. https://lni.wa.gov/workers-rights/leave/paid-sick-leave/ …

Can we do anything to make it easier to get a same-day COVID test in King County w/o an appointment? Skagit has a drive-through testing site that doesn't require appointments or any form of permission, and they're getting people driving there from all the surrounding counties.

I have no car and I live alone. There's no way I'm getting a Covid test if I get ill, unless it's so bad that I end up in a hospital via ambulance. I'm sure I'm not the only one in that position.

Most Americans are too afraid of employer retaliation to actually use their sick leave in chunks that would be required here

My husband worked for a corporation that would write him up for excessive absences even when he: A) had a doctor’s note B) had the banked sick leave time They absolutely do use coercion and retaliation, you’re right.

Most people have have borderline Stockholm Syndrome about their jobs. Even if they get the time off, their first concern is appeasing their boss and not "letting down" their coworkers. It's the reality of every workplace that understaffs and overworks as a business model.

And while I realize y'all are talking about Washington specifically, this is happening all over the country. I'm in Texas, we had someone come to work with Covid symptoms for A WEEK (not sent home due to HR policy wtf!), now 3/4 of staff is invol quarantined without pay.
