There’s been a persistent rumor that essential workers need some sort of pass or paperwork and that they might even be asked to present it by police. This is simply untrue.

Why are some business given their employees papers?
We’ve heard about employers doing this, but it’s unnecessary.

Agree. Though it may not be necessary, many of our member orgs now provide this documentation to staff because there is fear, esp. among pple of color, of being stopped by police. Homeless service & housing workers are
