Yesterday’s shooting, which occurred at one of the busiest corners in our region, has shaken our community. I want to extend gratitude to the many civil servants who worked quickly and bravely to keep us all safe.

While we must focus on identifying and confronting the root causes of violence in our community, we have the right to expect the streets to be safe, and that prolific offenders are dealt with seriously.
